Ana Thaís Matos, ao falar de Fernando Diniz e Roger Machado, indicou uma situação incômoda para ambos os treinadores. Na visão da comentarista, o cenário de perder jogos traz um impacto maior nos atuais trabalhos à frente de Vasco e Internacional, respectivamente. Em contrapartida, quando os resultados são positivos, a missão cumprida é avaliada como mera obrigação profissional.
No caso de Roger Machado, Ana Thaís considera que o viés de baixa do Internacional foi causado pelas limitações do elenco. Superado pelo Flamengo, na Libertadores, o Colorado sequer conseguiu ameaçar a classificação do Rubro-Negro, algo que motivou uma série de críticas destinadas ao treinador.
“Eu falo sempre duas coisas: só tem dois treinadores no Brasil que não podem perder, Roger Machado e o Diniz. Eles não podem perder. Quando eles perdem, não servem pra nada. Quando eles ganham, não fizeram mais do que a obrigação. Encontrar identidade neste momento, reconstruindo um time que não tem um grande elenco, é muito difícil. Essa é a grande dificuldade do trabalho do Roger Machado. É o motivo que não faz ele virar a chave daquela expectativa: ‘Nossa, olha o Roger Machado, o grande trabalho dele e a grande assinatura’. Ele não conseguiu isso.”, opinou Ana Thaís, na “Central do GE da Conmebol Libertadores”.

Acumulando altos e baixos nos últimos anos, Fernando Diniz possui Ana Thaís como forte admiradora. Diante da influência vista no futebol brasileiro, a jornalista citou o maior impacto desde Telê Santana e, após o massacre do Vasco contra o Santos, fez questão de manifestar uma torcida pelo técnico.
