Reprezentace na Andrově stadionu zakončí rok už počtvrté za sebou, předchozí tři zápasy měly vždy vítěznou tečku,“ řekl předseda FAČR David Trunda. „Na loňský zápas proti Gruzii rád vzpomínám, protože diváci byli skvělí a v důležitém zápase nám pomohli k vítězství,“ dodal trenér národního týmu Ivan Hašek.
Jeho svěřenci v posledním utkání v červnu utrpěli debakl 1:5 v Chorvatsku a výrazně si zkomplikovali boj o přímý postup na světový šampionát. V tabulce jsou sice první, ale Chorvaté ztrácejí jen tři body a mají dva duely k dobru. Nejbližší zápas odehraje české mužstvo 5. září v Černé Hoře. Přímo na šampionát projdou jen vítězové skupin, celky na druhých místech bude čekat baráž.
