Hlaváčková obsadila ve své semifinálové skupině desáté místo, tedy první nepostupové. Body ztratila na překážkové dráze, která po olympiádě nahradila parkur a na níž pokazila závěr. Do kombinace běhu a střelby vyrazila ze 14. místa a navzdory posunu pořadím ji od postupu dělilo propastných 12 sekund.
„Chyba na překážkové dráze se mi těžce doháněla. Čtyři holky, které jsem v kombi mohla seběhnout, jsem seběhla, ale nestřílela jsem úplně nejlépe. Už v kvalifikaci to nebylo úplně perfektní. Z těch devíti holek, co byly přede mnou, by musel někdo výrazně zachybovat, ale to se nestalo,“ citoval juniorskou vicemistryni světa Havlíčkovou český svaz v tiskové zprávě.
Novotná mohla ve své skupině na postup pomýšlet až do závěrečného laser runu, ale nepovedla se jí střelba a obsadila 15. místo. „Když jsem přišla na kombi a viděla jsem, že postup je blízko, trochu mě to vzalo a začala jsem o tom víc přemýšlet a stresovat se. Na střelbě jsem to bohužel nechala. Nevydržela jsem to hlavou a závodila jsem, což se na střelnici nemá,“ konstatovala Novotná.
