Despite the talent displayed all over the court from one of the best players in the NBA,Luka has not been able to help Slovenia to get a win against Poland or France.
Doncic is getting all the intensity he can ask for, facing fierce defenders and elite nations, which is going to help him stay in rhythm before the 2025-2026 NBA regular season, his first full campaign with the Purple and Gold. The California franchise is trying to make one final championship run with superstar guard LeBron James in the roster.

Luka gets tackled by a Poland defender
During Slovenia‘s EuroBasket 2025 matchup against Poland, Luka Doncic got tangled up with small forward Michal Sokolowski in a chippy sequence that drew gasps from the crowd, as the two European players battled each other all night long.

Sokolowski appeared to lift and tackle Doncic, prompting the Lakers star to plead his case to the officials. Despite his protests, there was no foul called on the play and the game continued. Luka probably got flashbacks of when he used to play for Spain’s powerhouse Real Madrid.
Doncic finished with 34 points, 9 assists, and 5 steals, becoming the first player in EuroBasket history to post 30+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ steals in a game. Still, Slovenia fell 105-95 to Poland, who delivered a stunning performance to open the tournament.
France comes up on top against Luka, Slovenia
France had the last word in a high-scoring encounter that featured 12 lead changes and saw the scores tied on 15 occasions, to bend the resistance of Slovenia, 103-95, extending their perfect start in Group D despite another great performance by Luka Doncic, who came up with a game-high 39 points.
Before the start of EuroBasket 2025, concerns were raised around a potential lack of leadership and playmaking skills in the point guard spot for France. After the first two games in Katowice, one can say that Sylvain Francisco has addressed all those concerns convincingly.
Not only did the French #00 dished a team-high 5 assists on Saturday, but he also led all French scorers with 32 points adding 7 rebounds and 2 steals. He’s proving to belong among Europe’s finest.
