Now, defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has broken his silence, speaking publicly about Parsons’ departure from the Cowboys.
Matt Eberflus joined the Dallas Cowboys this year following his tenure as head coach of the Chicago Bears. Although his time working with Micah Parsons was brief, he had the opportunity to get to know the All-Pro defensive end and experience firsthand the controversy surrounding Parsons’ contract extension with the Texas franchise.
Renowned journalist Jon Machota of The Athletic shared on social media remarks from Matt Eberflus following his press meeting. The Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator expressed his support and happiness regarding Micah Parsons’ new deal with the Green Bay Packers.
“Congratulations to Micah. We wish him the best,” Eberflus said regarding the departure of the defensive end. He added, “We’re going to focus on us. Obviously, he’s a really good player. We have a lot of strong rushers in the D-line room, and we’ll generate pressure with that and other aspects as well.” Eberflus spoke confidently about the talent still present on the Cowboys’ defensive line.
A big year for the Cowboys and a big year for Eberflus
It is imperative for the Dallas Cowboys to improve on last season’s disappointing 7-10 record. Under the leadership of Brian Schottenheimer, the team aims to elevate its performance and deliver stronger results in the upcoming campaign.
This presents the biggest challenge for Brian Schottenheimer, who has just joined the Dallas Cowboys and will experience his first season as the team’s head coach. However, it’s worth noting that Schottenheimer is already familiar with the organization, having served as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator since 2023.
On the other hand, Matt Eberflus must regain confidence after his tenure as head coach of the Chicago Bears. Arriving in Dallas to apply his expertise, he now faces the challenge of leading the Cowboys’ defense following the departure of cornerstone player Micah Parsons.
