It’s incredible, but bad luck doesn’t let up for Indiana Fever. Every week, a new injury is added to the list, and the team is already talking about a true “plague.” The latest to fall was Chloe Bibby, ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee issue. Even player development coach Keith Porter suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Amid this crisis, all eyes are on Caitlin Clark and whether she’ll be able to return before the regular season ends.
Clark is still recovering from various soft tissue issues, with the most recent being her right groin. Despite this, she hasn’t been officially ruled out for the season, keeping fans’ hopes alive. With only three games left to play, the big question is whether there’s enough time to see her back on the court.

At a press conference, head coach Stephanie White was directly asked about her star player’s situation. Her response was cautious but left the door open: “We want to use this West Coast trip to evaluate. After today’s practice, we hope to have a clear direction soon,” she said.
Fans have been waiting for firm news about Clark for weeks, but so far they’ve only received vague updates. However, this time White hinted that a definitive decision may be coming soon: “The hope is to sit down and have an answer one way or another.”

Although small improvements have been seen, Clark’s progress remains surrounded by uncertainty. She was spotted in a 5-on-0 practice, sinking three-pointers with ease. Nevertheless, White has been clear: to return, Clark needs to show physical endurance and the ability to handle contact across the court.
For now, those requirements haven’t been met. “She hasn’t been able to do much contact. She’s participated in shooting drills and 5-on-0 practices, but she’s still not ready for contact drills,” the coach explained.
With less than a week left in the regular season, the situation is becoming more complicated. To return to action, Clark would need several full-contact sessions, something that seems unlikely in such a short time. Meanwhile, fans continue to eagerly await news that could define not only the end of the season but also the team’s immediate future.
