WWE Crown Jewel 2025 Preview: Cena vs Styles, Rollins vs Rhodes, Ripley in Action

Article arrow_drop_down

Crown Jewel takes place at 7/CT in Australia on October 4th, and there’s plenty to talk about. From another dream rematch in Cena’s farewell tour, to a battle of the champions to crown the second-ever Crown Jewel champion. There’s a lot happening, so let’s break it down.

Champion vs Champion

As mentioned earlier, the two main champions of both Raw and SmackDown will go head-to-head for a chance at the coveted Crown Jewel Champion.

Starting with Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes, these two are no strangers to each other. Their history dates back a decade — when Rollins was part of The Shield and faced the Rhodes brothers for the tag team titles.

Rhodes eventually left for AEW, before making his WWE return at WrestleMania 38 against none other than Rollins. Cody was victorious and received a hero’s welcome, even earning what some called the “Road Warrior pop.”

The rivalry escalated with matches at WrestleMania Backlash and Hell in a Cell. Despite a gruesome torn pec injury, Rhodes fought through and defeated Rollins in the Cell — a career-defining moment.

Now, Rollins looks to even the score. Who will win this time? Tune in to find out.

A First Time for the Women

Two women will collide for the first time on Saturday when they step into the ring on Australian soil. Stephanie Vaquer will face Tiffany Stratton for a shot at becoming Crown Jewel Champion.

Vaquer, fresh off her WrestlePalooza win over Iyo Sky, is still making her mark in WWE after stints in NJPW and NXT. Some argue it’s too early for “La Primera” to carry a title, but her “Devil’s Kiss” finisher has fans buzzing.

Stratton remains undefeated in 2025, despite a clumsy SmackDown defense against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill that ended awkwardly.

The two champions haven’t traded promos yet, but their intense SmackDown staredown set the tone for this first-time-ever clash.

Nothing Short of Phenomenal

With time winding down on John Cena’s Farewell Tour, fans wanted one last dream match. WWE delivered: John Cena vs. AJ Styles at Crown Jewel Perth.

After being demolished by Brock Lesnar, Cena hinted on Twitter that he wanted Styles next. The post went viral, and Triple H made it official.

These two icons have collided five times before:

Styles won their first two meetings.

Cena tied it up by beating Styles at the Royal Rumble to become a 16-time world champion.

Their last clash came in 2018 on SmackDown, with Cena victorious.

Crown Jewel now serves as their long-awaited rubber match — a “phenomenal” bout fans have been waiting years to see.

Roman Empire in Australia

It hasn’t been confirmed if Roman Reigns will wrestle or simply appear at Crown Jewel. But leaving him off the card would be a colossal mistake.

The Tribal Chief remains one of WWE’s biggest attractions. Whether he faces Bron Breakker or another top challenger, expect Reigns to have a presence in Australia.

Hometown Hero

Australia’s own Rhea Ripley will absolutely be part of Crown Jewel. Arguably the biggest female star in WWE, Ripley may even team up with Iyo Sky to face the Kabuki Warriors.

Though Sky and Ripley have been rivals, they’ve bonded in their fight against Asuka and Kairi Sane. Whether in singles or tag action, Ripley’s homecoming pop will be electric.

Final Thoughts

Crown Jewel is stacking up to be a must-watch event. Even though it airs early in the morning, this could be one of WWE’s sleeper hits of the year. Set your alarms or catch the highlights — this card is worth it.
