“He leído varios artículos dañando mi persona. Sé que he tenido partidos malos, soy consciente. No me escondo y doy la cara. Realmente estoy triste. De mí pueden decir muchas cosas, pero bajo ningún punto de vista pueden decir que me niego a jugar. He dado todo y más por este club, he jugado fracturado, lesionado y jamás me he quejado ni he pedido un descanso.

Tengo una buena relación con el entrenador, la cual me hace sentir con la confianza de poder decirle cuál es la posición que más me gusta dentro del campo, pero siempre, siempre le hice saber que estoy disponible para cumplir en cualquier lugar, en cualquier viaje y en todos los partidos.
Dejé el alma en este club y lo seguiré haciendo, aunque a veces no alcance o no esté jugando como quisiera, lo juro por mi orgullo que jamás me rendiré y lucharé hasta el final jugando donde sea”.

Fede Valverde admite en su comunicado en las redes que sí ha hablado con Xabi sobre la posición en la que le gusta jugar, pero insiste en que ningún momento se ha negado a jugar de lateral.
El uruguayo, que no está acostumbrado a estar en el foco de la polémica, espera pasar página cuanto antes y está convencido de que pronto se volverá a ver a su mejor versión.
