The Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller made his return to the NFL on Monday night and had a dream game. The 33-year-old scored two touchdowns after not having set foot on a field since 2023. This result against the New York Jets represented the first victory for the team commanded by Mike McDaniel, who is still walking on a tightrope.
The Miami Dolphins fell in their other games, leaving them with a negative record of 1-3. In Week 1, the Florida team was thrashed by the Indianapolis Colts (33-8); then they were beaten at Hard Rock Stadium by the New England Patriots (27-33); and, in their penultimate meeting, the Buffalo Bills beat them 31-21.

Waller appeared on the Dan LeBatard show and said that his return to an NFL field in the game against the Jets made him feel like he was “high”. This analogy is particularly relevant when it comes to Waller, as he was infamously suspended for the entire 2017 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy
In an interview with Men’s Health in January, his college diet was described as “cocaine, marijuana, alcohol and touchdowns”. Throughout his career, including the three receptions he had against the Jets on Monday night, Waller has 353 receptions for 4,151 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Tyreek Hill makes decision after injury against Jets
The Miami Dolphins’ victory over the New York Jets last night may have been bittersweet for fans, as star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a knee injury that ended his season midway through the win. For almost 24 hours, many expressed concern that it could be the end of his career.
But Hill has no plans to retire. On Instagram, he shared a photo where he indicated that he is looking forward to recovering from the injury. More officially, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, stated that Hill’s dislocated kneecap surgery “went very well, according to the doctors”. As a result, Hill will not need another surgery, which bodes very well for the future.
