Fantasy Football: Running back report entering Week 5

  • Breece Hall trending up in perfect time for favorable schedule: With teammate Braelon Allen headed to injured reserve, Hall should finally see a consistent workload. His upcoming schedule is very juicy, as he will face three weak rush defenses over the next month.
  • Woody Marks‘ takeover has begun in Houston: In Week 4, fourth-round rookie running back played on 57% of the Houston Texans’ offensive snaps, outsnapping Nick Chubb in a game for the first time. Marks’ snap share has increased greatly each week of his short NFL career, and this trend should continue as he proved he is the best back available to his team.

Below are the top running back takeaways from Week 4 that could have a significant impact on fantasy points in Week 5 and beyond.

Omarion Hampton dominates with Najee Harris sidelined

In Week 4, the Los Angeles Chargers’ first game since losing Harris for the season to a torn Achilles, Hampton played on 88.7% of his team’s offensive snaps and saw 92.3% of the team’s rushing attempts, both the highest on the week from any running back in the NFL. No other player received more than 81% of their team’s carries last week. In fact, Hampton was the only Chargers running back with a single touch last weekend while playing all but seven offensive snaps in the game (55 of 62 snaps).

Over the last two weeks, Hampton leads the NFL with 294 scrimmage yards since Week 3 while adding a touchdown to his stat sheet in both games. He has scored 52.4 fantasy points, most among all running backs and second-most in the NFL, behind only Puka Nacua (58.4). Hampton has proved that he can handle a large workload and has league-winning fantasy upside the rest of the way.

Upcoming matchups: vs. Commanders, at Dolphins, vs. Colts

Will the New York Jets finally be forced to use Breece Hall as a workhorse?

The Jets have been determined to utilize a split backfield with Hall and Braelon Allen, while third-stringer Isaiah Davis has even stolen some touches throughout the season. Now, with Allen expected to head to injured reserve (IR) due to a sprained MCL, the team should finally be forced to give Hall a large workload. In the second half of Week 4, with Allen sidelined, Hall played 73.3% of the Jets’ offensive snaps, but he played on just 58% of the snaps from Weeks 1-3.

In the two games with at least 15 touches this season, Hall has recorded 145 and 111 scrimmage yards. He has yet to score a touchdown on the season, but his opportunities will increase with Hall on IR, who was the Jets’ primary red-zone back throughout the first three and a half weeks of the season.

The timing for Hall to receive a larger workload could not come at a better time; his upcoming schedule is amazing for fantasy running backs. He will face the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers and the Cincinnati Bengals in three of the next four weeks. The Cowboys and Bengals have allowed the sixth-most and second-most fantasy points to the running back position this season, while the Panthers have allowed the fourth-most yards per carry to running backs in 2025.

Upcoming matchups: vs. Cowboys, vs. Broncos, vs. Panthers, at Bengals

Houston Texans’ rookie RB Woody Marks outsnaps Nick Chubb for the first time

Marks’ snap share has increased significantly each week to start his NFL career. In Week 1, Marks played on just 11% of the Texans’ offensive snaps. That jumped to 27% in Week 2,  48% in Week 3 and then all the way up to 57.1% in Week 4. Last Sunday was the first game that Marks outsnapped Chubb.

There is a reason why the Texans have leaned away from the veteran and more toward their fourth-round rookie. Marks recorded 119 yards and two touchdowns on 21 touches in Week 4, while Chubb gained just 62 yards on 15 touches. On the season, Chubb is averaging a measly 4.2 yards per touch (on 41 touches), while Marks is averaging 6.4 yards per touch (on 32 touches).

Joe Mixon‘s latest injury update is that he is not returning to the field anytime soon, giving Marks a fantastic opportunity to become a high-volume player for the foreseeable future. Marks is a viable RB2/flex fantasy start from here on out, especially next week in a juicy matchup against the Baltimore Ravens — no team has allowed more fantasy points to the running back position than the Ravens this season.

Upcoming matchups: at Ravens, bye week, at Seahawks, vs. 49ers

Quinshon Judkins continues to defy odds

A player who missed his entire rookie offseason and preseason, while not signing his contract until after Week 1 of the season, should not be thriving so early in his career. It is impressive how quickly Judkins has excelled in the NFL with minimal practice. Finally, the Cleveland Browns may have found a difference maker on offense.

Judkins’ touches have increased each game of his career, finishing with 13 touches in Week 2 (NFL Debut), 19 in Week 3 and 25 touches in Week 4 despite the Browns getting stomped by the Detroit Lions. Over the last two weeks, Judkins has 39 carries (third in NFL) for 179 rushing yards and 38 fantasy points — other Browns running backs have combined for just three carries for -1 rushing yards in that span.

Despite the offense struggling, Judkins continues to see high volume on the ground and has scored a touchdown in each of the last two weeks. Judkins has a favorable upcoming schedule, but he has also proved that his opponent doesn’t matter, as he just had great fantasy performances against the Green Bay Packers and Lions defenses over the last two weeks. Judkins should be considered a weekly top-15 fantasy option from here on out.

Upcoming matchups: vs. Vikings, at Steelers, vs. Dolphins

New York GiantsCameron Skattebo sees league-high 27 touches in Week 4

With teammate Tyrone Tracy Jr. sidelined with a dislocated shoulder (expected to be out another one to three weeks), Skattebo played on a career-high 75% of the Giants’ offensive snaps and led the NFL with 25 carries and 27 touches in Week 4. His production on that workload was mediocre with just 13.0 fantasy points, 79 rushing yards and 90 scrimmage yards; however, it was a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. This week’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints will be much easier — they have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to running backs this season.

Fantasy managers shouldn’t worry about Skattebo’s inefficiency in Week 4, and instead, they should focus on his usage throughout the games, especially on important snaps for future fantasy points. Skattebo was the only Giants’ running back to see a touch on third down in Week 4, while playing on 15 of the 18 third-down plays in the game. He was on the field for 14 of 16 red-zone plays in the game, finishing with six red zone carries, including four inside the opponents’ five-yard line. Skattebo did not find the end zone last week, but the touchdowns will come with this type of red-zone and goal-line usage. He should be plugged into starting lineups with confidence in Week 5.

Upcoming matchups: at Saints, vs. Eagles, at Broncos
