Inter Miami is still in the fight for the MLS title, while looking for reinforcements to join them next season. It was sports journalist and international transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who assured that the Florida team is already in talks to sign a former LaLiga star; the team is thinking about the future and players of the age of, for example, Jordi Alba, would be close to retirement.
The Herons are already qualified for the MLS Playoffs, however, they had a tough setback against Chicago Fire at Chase Stadium last Tuesday. A 5-3 defeat meant that Javier Mascherano’s side could not climb any further up the standings, remaining in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 53 points.

Inter Miami will face New England Revolution
In their second game in Fort Lauderdale in five days, Inter Miami will look to get back to winning ways in MLS 2025 against New England. Although it is an opponent that is already out of the Playoffs, it has nothing left to lose and will look to upset Lionel Messi and company. And while it could be said that it is a mere ‘formality’ for the Herons, maintaining a good level could be beneficial for the postseason.
New England are 11th in the standings with 35 points (nine wins, eight draws and 15 defeats). They are 15 points adrift of the Play-In zone with just two games to play, the club is already thinking about next season and will have to find a new coach after the departure of Caleb Porter, after several defeats that the team’s management did not overlook.
As for the history between the two teams, Inter Miami leads the H2H with six wins and three defeats in nine meetings. In the last duel, played in July this year, the Herons won 2-1 and Lionel Messi stood out with a brace. Although we are not expecting a death match from either side, it will be interesting to see Mascherano’s approach with Miami, as trying out new players would be a smart strategy.

Sergio Reguilon finished his contract with Tottenham last July and had not found a new team… until now. The former Real Madrid, Manchester United, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid player is packing his bags and heading to MLS, according to Fabrizio Romano. He will play with Leo Messi, Rodrigo de Paul, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets at Inter Miami.
Sergio Reguilon was one of the most sought-after free agents without a team once the summer transfer window closed. The player finished his contract with Tottenham in July, after the English club decided not to renew his contract. It was transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano who revealed that Inter Miami are very close to completing the surprise signing of Reguilon.
Negotiations with the left-back are at an advanced stage, after he was released from Tottenham in July. The Spanish footballer is evaluating different proposals, but considers that the project of the American club is the most attractive option. The possibility of sharing a dressing room with Lionel Messi and joining the team led by the Argentine star in MLS is a determining factor in his decision.
