Do utkání vstoupily lépe slávistické fotbalistky, když se prosadila slovenská záložnice Tamara Morávková. Vedení hostujícím hráčkám vydrželo ale pouze do poslední pětiminutovky poločasu, sparťanky totiž dokázaly v rozmezí tří minut skóre otočit.
Skóre nejdříve vyrovnala bývalá útočnice Slavie Franny Černá, o otočku se postarala americká letní posila Elizabeth Ospecková.

Ve druhém poločase už však úřadovala pouze Sparta. Navýšení na 3:1 zařídila další Američanka v kádru domácího týmu, Tori Hansenová, jež do Prahy dorazila rovněž v létě, před působením ve Spartě působila v americkém Brooklynu.
Konečný výsledek se stvrdil v 80. minutě, kdy si míč po centru srazila rukami do branky dvacetiletá gólmanka Slavie Vanesa Jílková.
„Dali jsme brzy gól, ale možná jsme zbytečně vyklidili pole. Rozhodly (slepené góly) tři minuty do půle, kdy nás to položilo,“ žehral slávistický kouč Jiří Vágner.
Sparťanky i v minulé sezoně první ligové derby vysoko vyhrály (5:1), z dalších tří už ale vytěžily jen bod při celkovém skóre 1:9 a neuspěly ani ve finále poháru. „Když jsem v létě přišel, hráčky byly po jarních porážkách dole. Teď jsou zpátky, řekl bych. Ukázaly, že se mohou se Slavií měřit, a dnes to byl dobrý krok, byť sezona je dlouhá,“ řekl rakouský kouč Michal Steiner, jenž zatím v lize zažívá s týmem pouze vítězství.
