O gol de Paulo Henrique colocou fim a um jejum que durava treze anos. A última vez que um jogador do Vasco havia marcado pela Seleção foi em 2012. Naquele ano, Rômulo, então volante cruz-maltino, balançou as redes na derrota por quatro a três contra a Argentina, em amistoso nos Estados Unidos.
Com isso, o Vasco deixa de ser o clube entre os doze grandes que há mais tempo não marcava pela Seleção. Agora, o São Paulo passa a ocupar esse posto. O último jogador são-paulino a fazer gol com a camisa verde e amarela foi Lucas Moura, em 2012, no amistoso contra o Iraque.
