Widely regarded as WWE’s Greatest of All Time (GOAT), Cena is also a master of publicity. His social media posts and interviews consistently keep fans and journalists on edge.
His farewell tour is further proof of his marketing brilliance. The way he used Instagram to secure a match against AJ Styles was practically a masterclass in hype-building.
Now, with his latest Instagram post, Mr. Money in the Bank appears to be teasing his next opponent. At least, that’s what fans believe, as they rack their brains trying to decipher the hint.
Is Cena signaling his next big match?
On Tuesday, Cena posted a photo of Tom Brady greeting Peyton Manning after a game. The image appears to be from post-2012, as Manning is wearing a Denver Broncos uniform.
True to form, Cena left the photo captionless-prompting one burning question: what does it mean? If Cena is likening himself to Brady, the NFL’s GOAT, then who’s the Manning in this metaphor?
Fans and analysts have ruled out those he’s already faced during his farewell run: Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Randy Orton, R-Truth, Brock Lesnar, and AJ Styles.
That leaves a shortlist of “usual suspects”: Roman Reigns, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Edge-who currently wrestles in AEW under the ring name Adam Copeland.
Could it be Cena vs. The Rock III?
Every fan has a favorite pick for Cena’s final opponent. But given the Brady-Manning photo, many believe he’s hinting at a third showdown with The Rock.
The wrestler-turned-Hollywood icon has been one of Cena’s fiercest rivals. Their feud headlined WrestleMania twice, generating massive profits for WWE.
A third clash between these two titans-especially as Cena bows out-would be a dream match for fans and a promotional goldmine for WWE. So, who do you think it might be?
