“Me aficioné al Madrid por Zidane, como fan de Zizou, con los galácticos. Es el mejor club del mundo, tiene ujn aura que los otros no tienen. Luego llegó Cristiano, mi otro ídolo. Veía todos los partidos de niño ya compo jugador, porque es el club más importante. Primero fue un sueño, luego un objetivo y ahora es una realidad”
La prueba en Valdebebas
“Tenía 12 ó 13 años cuando estuve aquí, no hablaba español ni inglés y hablaba francés con Zidane. Fue increíble para mí vestir por primera vez la ropa del Madrid. Sabía que un día volvería, aunque no tan rápido. Hubo opciones antes, pero no era el momento, no estaba listo para irme de Francia con 12 años. Para mí fue la mejor decisión”.

“No fue fácil, pero con el presi (Florentino Pérez) siempre he tenido una buena relación, también cuando le dije que me quedaba en París. También con mi familia y eso marca las diferencias. Le tengo un gran respeto y voy a dar lo máximo por él y por el club”.

“Las cifras son importantes, no tengo problemas en hablar de dinero, pero hay cosas más importantes, y yo quería jugar en el Real Madrid. “Siempre me quedo con los títulos. La gente se queda con el día del City, pero soy un fan de las primeras veces, como el primer gol, también la noche del City, porque a la gente le encantan las noches de Champions, pero pienso sobre todo en el primer gol, porque es un sueño que tienes de niño”.
“El Balón de Oro es individual, yo he dicho siempre que jugar aquí es lo más importante. Ser parte de la historia del mejor club del mundo no tiene precio, así que me quedo con ganar la Champions. ¿Goles? Quiero marcar goles, pero lo más importante es hacer historia aquí y ganar muchas copas, la Liga, la Champions…”

“La gente tenía una imagen muy dura de mi madre, pero esto es fútbol y la gente no quiere que haya muchas mujeres, que hagan una de las cosas más importantes del fútbol. Ella no es mi agente, sólo quiere lo mejor para su hijo, igual que pare mi hermano. Ella nunca haces nada que yo no quiera. Ella hace mucho para mí, como mi padre, aunque a veces se hable mal de ella”.

Su vida en España
“Estoy feliz de estar aquí, en esta nueva etapa, en un nuevo país. Me lo paso bien en España. En mi cara se ve si soy feliz, y ahora lo soy mucho. Me centro en el fútbol, tenemos muchos partidos y no hay tiempo para muchas cosas. Intento descubrir la ciudad, la comida española, la cultura… Le gente es muy amable, puedo sentir el cariño de la gente en Madrid y fuera. Y la comida no está mal, aunque yo soy francés”.
“Hablar el idioma es un esfuerzo que tienes que hacer, porque antes que futbolista soy un chico que vive en España, aunque ahora la gente me habla demasiado rápido. Tenía mucha gente en París que hablaba español, y para mi ha sido más fácil aprenderlo que el inglés porque son lenguas latinas. Y además tenía el sueño de jugar en el Madrid y quería estar listo. Es un sueño e intento disfrutarlo al máximo”.

“Ancelotti es un poco de todo, padre, jefe, amigo, entrenador… Es un entrenador de leyenda, tiene una experiencia de la no necesito hablar. Ha hecho historia aquí y quiere seguir haciéndola”.
La salud mental
“Yo conozco a gente con depresión, a compañeros, y yo no quería decir eso. No jugaba bien, soy el primero en saberlo, pero es un tema serio, hay gente que sufre, y también en el fútbol, que no lo dicen. No somos superhéroes, somos humanos y hay gente que tiene problemas a la hora de gestionar eso. Somos humanos, tenemos nuestras penas y nuestras alegrías, y ahora la gente ya no tiene miedo de hablar de eso. En Bilbao toqué fondo de manera deportiva, no mental. Quería dejarlo claro porque no quería jugar con ese tipo de cosas”.
Un futbolista valiente
“A veces en mi país se me criticaba por hablar, pero antes que futbolista soy una persona normal que se alegra, se apena, se enfada, y al final doy mi opinión con mis valores porque creo que es bueno. No tengo miedo en dar mi opinión, pero entiendo que haya futbolistas que no quieran hacerlo. No tengo problema en hablar con la gente si creen que me equivoco, eso pasa en la vida”.
Proyectos sociales
“La educación es clave, intento tener la vida más normal posible, aunque sea famoso. Quiero dar la imagen de un tío normal, aunque en el campo no lo sea por mi juego. Como he dicho, tenía un talento pero también la suerte de conocer a buenas personas en mi vida. Ahora estoy yo en el otro lado, tengo que cuidar yo a los niños. Hago lo máximo que puedo, espero que la fundación vaya creciendo para ayudar a la mayor cantidad de chicos posible”.
“Lo más importante en mi Fundación es que aprendamos a vivir juntos porque somos diferentes pero podemos aprender de todos y vivir juntos. Con los niños es la primera cosa que aprendemos, al final son todos juntos en la mesa comiendo lo mismo… No puedo cambiar el mundo, pero sí lo que está en mi parte. Si todos lo hacemos, el mundo será mejor”.

“La humildad es necesaria, pero no sólo en el Madrid, aunque aquí mucho más. Lo hice en París y en Mónaco, llegué con humildad pero con ganas de demostrar tu juego y tu personalidad”.
“No miro las redes, me dan igual. Es más difícil proteger a los que me rodean. Nosotros estamos en una burbuja, pero a veces la gente que está cerca sufre. Intento hacerlo lo mejor que puedo, intento decirles que es parte del trabajo, un día eres Dios y el otro el diablo. Es nuestro trabajo. En cada partido sé lo que puede pasar en lo bueno y lo malo, pero la gente de fuera no soporta la presión de la misma manera”.
