Podle televizních záběrů se Pérez pokusil Latasu uhodit poté, co se nedlouho po Latasově vystřídání v 60. minutě na lavičce pohádali. Větší eskalaci zabránil jiný hráč Valencie Eray Comert, který seděl mezi oběma fotbalisty a Péreze zklidnil. Ten nakonec s členem realizačního týmu odešel do kabin.
„Žádný výsledek nebo frustrace nemohou omluvit nedostatek respektu a chování, jehož jsme se dopustili včera na lavičce. Chceme se omluvit svým spoluhráčům, klubu a fanouškům,“ uvedli Pérez s Latasou na týmovém webu s tím, že se osobně omluvili ostatním spoluhráčům.
