Ze strany italské vlády k němu ale žádné doporučení nedorazilo. A ačkoli ho od cesty do Ruska zrazovali fanoušci i italská média, dlouholetý kapitán AS Řím se rozhodl nabídku Bookmaker Ratings, stát se ambasadorem celé akce, přijmout.
V pondělí odpoledne v Římě nastoupil Totti do letadla a nabral kurz Moskva. Za necelé tři hodiny už seděl v limuzíně, která ho vezla z moskevského letiště do hotelu. Cestou mohl spatřit billboardy se svojí fotografií a nápisem „Císař jede do třetího Říma“.

Za účast na akci, na které někdejší italský kanonýr obdrží ocenění (před ním ho dostali například brazilský obránce Cafú nebo portugalský záložník Luis Figo), mu Bookmaker Ratings zaplatí částku v řádu statisíců eur.
„Jde o největší sumu, která byla naší společností v této záležitosti vynaložena,“ řekl ruskému deníku Vedomosti generální ředitel Bookmaker Ratings Asker Tchalidzhokov. „Jeho cesta do Moskvy budí pozornost, kontroverze. Z hlediska PR je to tedy nepochybně úspěch,“ dodal Tchalidzhokov.
Kvůli obavám z možného tlaku na Tottiho se však pořadatelé rozhodli zrušit aktivity, které se měly konat v Římě. „Kdybychom je udělali, pravděpodobně by bylo ještě větší vzrušení. Ale protože přetrvává jisté politické napětí, druhá strana nás požádala, aby se v Itálii reklamní akce nepořádaly,“ podotkl Tchalidzhokov.
