England-Star Declan Rice schießt die Spanier fast im Alleingang ab – Arsenal kann vom Halbfinale träumen.
Die Londoner gewinnen das erste Viertelfinal-Duell gegen Real Madrid mit 3:0 – dank zwei Wunder-Freistößen von Rice und getragen von einem Stadion, das genau das tut, was Trainer Mikel Arteta vor dem Spiel gefordert hatte: „Wir brauchen unsere Leute, die mit uns jeden Ball spielen. Das macht den Unterschied!“

58. Minute: Declan Rice läuft an, zieht mit dem rechten Fuß aus knapp 25 Metern ab – und zirkelt den Ball mit unglaublicher Wucht und perfekter Flugkurve um die Mauer. Courtois streckt sich vergeblich – das Leder schlägt unhaltbar neben dem Pfosten ein. Eine Rice-Rakete!
70. Minute: Der Zweite ist noch schöner! Rice legt erneut zum Freistoß an – diesmal halbrechts, ca. 18 Meter entfernt. Doch wieder zieht er den Ball mit unfassbarer Präzision über die Mauer. Wie am Lineal gezogen schlägt die Kugel oben rechts im Knick ein. Courtois fliegt, kommt aber nicht mal in die Nähe.
Noch nie sind einem Spieler zwei direkt verwandelte Freistöße in der K.o.-Phase gelungen. Historisch!
Und als Real noch mit dem doppelten Rice-Schock haderte, legten die Gunners nach.
75. Minute: Über Trossard und Lewis-Skelly landet der Ball bei Merino – und der Europameister bleibt eiskalt. Mit dem ersten Kontakt schlenzt er die Kugel flach an Rüdiger vorbei ins Eck. 3:0! Das Emirates tobt, Real ist komplett auseinandergefallen.
Mbappé und Vinicius blieben weitgehend blass, weil die Gunners-Defensive konsequent verteidigte – und wenn doch mal etwas durchkam, war David Raya zur Stelle.
Mit diesem 3:0 hat Arsenal nicht nur ein Ausrufezeichen gesetzt – sie haben den Königlichen die Krone vom Kopf gerissen. Real Madrid steht im Rückspiel nächsten Mittwoch im eigenen Stadion unter maximalem Druck. Die Gunners hingegen reisen mit breiter Brust nach Spanien.
Interessant: Real hat gegen Arsenal weiterhin noch nie gewonnen oder getroffen – bislang gab’s aber auch nur ein Duell: Im Achtelfinale der Champions-League-Saison 2005/06 siegte Arsenal 1:0 im Hinspiel, das Rückspiel endete torlos. Für Arsenal ging es damals bis ins Finale, dort scheiterte die Mannschaft aus London gegen den FC Barcelona.
