Las peleas y las ‘broncas’ producto de las fricciones físicas de la práctica de las disciplinas deportivas son lamentablemente habituales, y sobre todo en deportes como el futbol, el hockey o el basquetbol se convierten frecuentemente en noticia.
Y es precisamente en este último en el que este domingo se dio la más reciente, una bochornosa pelea en la duela del Target Center de Minneapolis.
Así se dieron los hechos
Se jugaba el segundo cuarto del partido entre los Minnesota Timberwolves y los Detroit Pistons, y el marcador indicaba una ligera ventaja del cuadro visitante por 39-30, cuando a falta de poco más de ocho minutos en el reloj el jugador de los Pistons Isaiah Stewart fue sancionado con un foul técnico por golpear a Donte DiVincenzo de los Timberwolves.
Acto seguido Ron Holland II de Detroit arrebató el balón a Naz Reid de Minnesota en una colada, y ambos se hicieron de palabras al instante, por lo que DiVincenzo intervino violentamente, lo que desató el caos en la duela.
El bochornoso episodio se dio en las narices de Alex Rodríguez, propietario de los Timberwolves, y lamentablemente encima del público de las primeras filas, por lo que el expelotero tuvo que intervenir junto con más personas para desenmarañar la nube de rijosos que no tenían conciencia en el momento de estar encima de los aficionados.
El saldo de la violenta pelea
Al final del violento episodio, cinco jugadores y dos entrenadores fueron expulsados. Detroit perdió al entrenador J.B. Bickerstaff, al pívot Isaiah Stewart, al alero Ron Holland II y al base Marcus Sasser. El alero de Minnesota, Naz Reid, y el base Donte DiVincenzo también fueron expulsados, junto con el entrenador asistente Pablo Prigioni.
De acuerdo con informes de OptaSTATS, este encuentro rompió el récord de más faltas técnicas en un partido, con 12, algo que no se daba en la NBA desde el 23 de marzo de 2005.
