Caitlin Clark had to miss one of her boyfriend’s milestone moments as the WNBA star headed to the NFL Annual Meeting to talk about women’s sports, whilst Connor McCaffery competes in the College Basketball Crown.
An assistant coach with the Butler Bulldogs, the Iowa Hawkeyes alumni, will be on the sidelines trying to talk his players through the 16-team contest aired live on FOX Sports and backed by AEG.
The NCAA tournament gives an opportunity to a Bulldogs side that will be looking to bounce back in Las Vegas after their Big East Tournament quarterfinals elimination on March 13.
However, they will do so without the WNBA Rookie of the Year watching on from the stands due to her commitments in Florida as she joined Serena Williams and Eli Manning on a panel, talking about women’s flag football.
Naturally she stole the show in her red bodysuit alongside the other owners, coaches, and league officials, but attracted attention for her new arms after spending the months since September bulking up.
One of the most-fouled players in the WNBA, the 23-year-old aims to make sure she isn’t bullied nearly as much in 2025 so she can spur the Indiana Fever on to championship glory for the first time since 2015.
She was also joined on the panel by Lisa Williams, with the part-owner of the Denver Broncos, Mellody Hobson, hosting the discussion centered around capitalizing on the momentum of women’s sport.
Women’s Flag Football explodes
Women’s flag football has become increasingly popular in recent years and the NFL has noticed, making sure it keeps a watching eye on how it continues to develop at high school and college levels.
There are even talks that the International Olympic Committee could make it a sport for the 2028 Summer Games, which will be hosted in Los Angeles.
The main difference between typical American Football and flag football is you do not make tackles in the latter, instead you aim to steal a flag belt from the ball carrier to earn a down.
