

Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola has been making headlines again for his looks, but this time for shedding pounds and not for imitating Patrick Mahomes.
Head coach Matt Rhule previously noted that Raiola needed to reshape his body, and the young signal-caller has clearly taken that challenge seriously.

Raiola opens up about shedding weight
As he prepares for his sophomore season, Raiola has faced speculation regarding his weight.
Officially listed at 230 pounds, rumors suggested he was carrying an extra 10 pounds.
Now, as he enters spring ball in peak condition, Raiola has acknowledged that his offseason conditioning was no easy task, one that required both personal commitment and a strong support system.
“If I’m being honest, it sucks,”Raiola admitted when discussing his training regimen with On3.
“It’s a constant grind every day. Sometimes you don’t see change right away. A physical body standpoint doesn’t change in a day, it doesn’t change in a week, it doesn’t change in two weeks, not even three. It’s just the consistency of staying on it and keep going.”
A major part of that support came from his father, former NFL lineman Dominic Raiola, who played a crucial role in his son’s transformation.
“I’m just grateful for our strength staff, our nutrition staff, even my dad,” Raiola said.
“My dad’s been involved heavily as well. It’s been a team effort-grateful. I feel amazing right now. Probably in the best shape I’ve ever been in.”
Raiola credited his physical breakthrough to weeks of effort, which culminated during spring break.
“Went on spring break, came back about nine or 10 pounds lighter,” he shared.
“That was the emphasis, kind of getting away from the program and just always the soreness and all the lifting we do here, which is great. But kind of just take that step. Like I said, it doesn’t happen in four weeks. That was probably week six or seven. Kind of all of a sudden snapped and here we are. It’s perfect timing, ready for spring ball.”
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule has emphasized that Year 2 is a pivotal time for a young quarterback, requiring both physical and mental growth.
He believes Raiola’s ability to master the system while refining his movement skills will be key to Nebraska’s success.
With his reshaped physique and increased confidence, Raiola looks poised to take the next step as a leader for the Cornhuskers this season.
