Superado hace tiempo un arranque en el que las dudas planearon sobre él, especialmente tras los penaltis fallados en Liverpool y San Mamés, la mejor versión del Mbappé madridista se asoma cuando los títulos entran en su fase decisiva. Sus goles son un arma poderosa para un Real Madrid que entra en abril con opciones de lograr algo que no aparece en su historia ni en la de Carlo Ancelotti: ser, en la misma temporada, campeón de la Copa de Europa, la Liga y la Copa.

El poder goleador de Mbappé en 2025 solo lo supera en Europa un compatriota suyo: Dembélé, con 21, dos más que el madridista. Eso es en todas las competiciones. Cuando la medida se reduce a partidos ligueros en 2025, Mbappé lleva 12, igual que Mika Biereth, el delantero francés que llegó al Mónaco en el mercado invernal. Uno más tiene Dembélé.
Más allá de ese poder destructor ante la meta rival, el Madrid sabe que tiene en su equipo a un jugador con una capacidad para decidir partidos que comparte con pocos en el mundo. La disputa entre Barcelona y Madrid en lo más alto de la tabla tiene su réplica en la de goleadores. Al ritmo goleador de Mbappé responde Lewandowski, quien ante el Girona marcó ayer uno de esos goles de raza de goleador. En los goles de ambos puede estar la clave para la resolución del campeonato de Liga.

Campeón de Liga en su país (seis veces) y de Copa (cuatro), la Liga de Campeones es la gran tarea pendiente de Mbappé. Cada uno de sus intentos con el PSG acabó sin el triunfo final. La tuvo cerca en la temporada de la pandemia, pero se le fue en la final.
