On Thursday, Paul delivered a strong performance, pitching 5.1 innings against the Marlins. He struck out 7 batters, allowed 3 hits, and gave up only 2 earned runs. Unfortunately, the Pirates lost to Miami in the first extra innings walk-off of the season.
This season has the potential to be one of the best for any pitcher. Paul is receiving support in the pitching rotation from Mitch Keller and Jared Jones (despite being injured), as well as Bailey Falter and Andrew Heaney. Fans are also excited about the development of his teammate, Bubba Chandler.
While the Pirates may not be a team that many expect to perform well this season, having Skenes on the roster brings hope for some exciting baseball.
