De Islam Makhachev (27-1) a Charles Oliveira (35-10)… y es que aunque ambos podrían ser el próximo oponente de ‘La Leyenda’, cada vez se habla más del veterano peleador brasileño.
“Mi próxima pelea será por el cinturón”,confirmaba en la rueda de prensa de WOW 17 el peleador hispano-georgiano. Sus palabras evidenciaban algo que se presuponía: dejó vacante el título del peso pluma porque la UFC le ofrecía ser doble campeón, ahora con el ligero y las 155 libras. En caso de no haberle confirmado dicho ‘tittle shot’, no habría dejado vacante su corona para que se la disputaran Volkanovski y Diego Lopes (en UFC 314, este próximo mes).

Sin embargo, Ilia dejó más bombazos en rueda de prensa pues habló también de Oliveira. La relación entre ambos se ha tensado pero nunca superando los límites del respeto personal. ‘Do Bronx’, no obstante, declaró esta semana que no entendía “las faltas de respeto” de Topuria. Y este habló sobre ello.
‘La Leyenda’ dedicó unas palabras al brasileño en su homenaje en Toledo.

Cuando MARCA le preguntó sobre la situación con Oliveira y el respeto mutuo que, en el fondo hay entre ambos, ‘La Leyenda’ lo confirmó: “Yo nunca mezclo lo personal con lo profesional, ¿verdad? No tengo ningún problema con Charles, seguramente una vez nuestras carreras se hayan acabado podamos estar juntos, pasar un buen rato, cenar, comer… lo que haga falta, pero esto es un deporte. Dentro de un octógono, hasta cuando estoy con mi hermano… dentro de un tatami somos los dos competitivos, ninguno cede independientemente de que seamos hermanos. Imagínate si no doy un paso atrás con mi hermano en un tatami porque somos competitivos, si con Charles haría algo así…”.
No tengo ningún problema con Charles, seguramente una vez nuestras carreras se hayan acabado podamos estar juntos, pasar un buen rato, cenar, comer…
En WOW 17, de hecho, estuvo Diego Lima, entrenador de Oliveira, representando al Chute Boxe de Brasil y acompañando a Gustavo Gabriel (17-2), que peleó y ganó. Él también dejó buenas palabras para Ilia Topuria.
