Dani Baijens kehrt in die Handball-Bundesliga zurück. Der niederländische Nationalspieler löst seinen bis 2026 datierten Vertrag bei Paris St. Germain auf. Baijens kommt mit der Erfahrung von sechs Bundesliga-Spielzeiten bei Flensburg, Lemgo und Hamburg (bis 2024) und ist im Rückraum flexibel einsetzbar.

„Dani ist ein explosiver, wendiger Spieler, der seine größten Stärken im Eins-gegen-eins hat. Er kann aber auch genauso gut ein Spiel lesen, bringt sehr viel Handball-Verstand mit und weiß genau, worauf es in der Bundesliga ankommt. Baijens erklärt auch, warum er Paris nach nur einem Jahr wieder verlässt: „Bei PSG habe ich nicht die Rolle einnehmen können, die ich mir für mich vorstelle und die ich für mein Spiel auch brauche. In den Gesprächen mit den Löwen habe ich gleich gespürt: Hier setzt man auf mich. Ab Sommer wieder in der Bundesliga zu spielen, darauf freue ich mich riesig. Genauso wie auf die Löwenfans, denen ich versprechen kann, dass ich immer alles geben werde auf dem Spielfeld.“
