En una reciente entrevista de la página oficial de la Fórmula 1, Sergio Pérez ha revelado cómo fue que sucedió su salida de Red Bull, tras finalizar la temporada en diciembre. El piloto mexicano ha explicado que la decisión del equipo lo tomó por sorpresa, pero que ahora lo ve de una manera distinta.
“Todo sucedió muy tarde en la temporada“, asegura Pérez, sobre el anuncio de su salida de Red Bull. “Realmente no esperaba que sucediera. Sólo se hizo más claro una vez que estábamos en Qatar, y empezamos a discutir y negociar mi salida del equipo. Todo sucedió muy rápido”, afirma el mexicano.

Pérez ha enfatizado que la prensa solo lo atacó por su última temporada, no teniendo en cuenta los resultados que ya había logrado en Red Bull: “En un par de carreras se olvidan de lo que has hecho. La gente se da cuenta de que mi posición no era la más fácil de la F1, y en general lo he hecho muy bien“.
“Especialmente el año pasado, no pude demostrar lo que soy capaz de hacer como piloto“, dice Pérez. Por otro lado, el mexicano señaló que las dificultades que experimentó en Red Bull recién se están haciendo notar, tras la salida de Liam Lawson y la nueva incorporación de Yuki Tsunoda: “Ahora, de repente, la gente se da cuenta de lo difícil que es pilotar el coche“.

“Cuando me uní a Red Bull, había grandes pilotos que habían tenido problemas, son pilotos fantásticos y tuvieron problemas”, menciona el piloto mexicano sobre Alex Albon y Pierre Gasly, quienes tuvieron la oportunidad en Red Bull, pero no salió como esperaban.

“Pasé cuatro años con ellos y quiero que les vaya bien. Es difícil saber (lo que está pasando)“, agrega Pérez sobre los problemas actuales de la escudería austriaca. “Para mí, fue muy simple, el coche es bastante difícil de conseguir el 100% de él, para obtener la confianza de ella y las cosas que luché con, incluso Adrian (Newey) habló de ellos“, revela el expiloto de Red Bull.

Desde el anuncio de la incorporación de Cadillac, existen rumores de que Pérez podría ser candidato de un asiento para la próxima temporada. El mexicano explica lo siguiente: “Hay algunos proyectos muy interesantes. Algunos equipos se han puesto en contacto conmigo desde Abu Dhabi. En los próximos meses se abrirán algunas posibilidades“.

“Estamos hablando con algunas partes. Cuando conozca todas mis opciones, tomaré una decisión. Por eso me he dado al menos seis meses para poner todas las opciones sobre la mesa y tomar una decisión sobre lo que voy a hacer en mi carrera”, agrega sobre el tema.
“Si encuentro un proyecto que me motive plenamente para volver, donde el equipo crea en mí y donde aprecien mi trayectoria, mi experiencia y todo lo que puedo aportar a un equipo, sería muy atractivo planteármelo“, afirma Pérez.
“Es bueno estar en esta posición sabiendo que la gente está interesada en ti como piloto. La gente tiene poca memoria en la F1″, argumenta el mexicano.
