Los Celtics siguen en modo campeón y tras doblegar a los Grizzlies (103-117) encadenaron su sexta victoria seguida a domicilio en apenas 10 días desde que el 22 de marzo iniciasen su gira por el Oeste (Utah, Portland, Sacramento, Phoenix, San Antonio y Memphis), la mejor racha en la historia de la franquicia, superando la de cinco victorias que firmaron en 1973.

No fue el único hito que lograron en este exitoso viaje los orgullosos verdes, que igualaron de esta forma las 32 victorias como visitante que tenía el equipo desde las temporadas 72-73 y 74-75. A falta de siete jornadas de que concluya la liga regular para ellos, se sitúan a un triunfo a domicilio de las plusmarcas de los Bulls en la 95-96 (33) y a dos de los Warriors de la 15-16 (34), que ostentan el récord absoluto. Los Celtics podrían igualarlo si ganan en sus visitas a Nueva York y Orlando el 9 y 10 de abril.

Junto a él brillaron Jayson Tatum con 25 puntos (8/5 t2, 2/11 t3 y 3/3 tl), 14 rebotes y 2 asistencias, Kristaps Porzingis con 19 (3/5 t3), Jrue Holiday (18+7+7) y Derrick White (14+8+10). De esta forma los Celtics encadenaron su noveno triunfo consecutivo, la mejor racha actual de la NBA tras el 10-0 de los Thunder, que les permite consolidar su segunda plaza en el Este (56-19) tras los Cavaliers (60-15).

El descaro del suplente Santi Aldama

En los Grizzlies los mejores fueron Ja Morant (26+6+5), Jaren Jackson Jr. (20+15) y Santi Aldama, autor de 21 puntos (5/16 t2, 3/12 t3 y 2/2 tl), 8 rebotes, 4 asistencias y un robo en los 36 minutos que estuvo en cancha saliendo desde el banquillo. El ala-pívot español asumió responsabilidades y demostró su descaro siendo el segundo jugador de su equipo que más tiros a canasta lanzó (8/18) tras Ja Morant (10/20) y por delante de Jaren Jackson Jr. (8/16), ambos titulares.

Fue la sexta derrota en los últimos siete partidos de unos Grizzlies que llegaron a dominar por 11 puntos mediado el segundo cuarto gracias a su 50% en tiros de tres puntos. Sin embargo, erraron los últimos seis que intentaron antes del descanso y posibilitaron que los Celtics se escapasen en el marcador. Luego remontaron llegando a situarse a siete puntos a 3 minutos del final, pero su rival abortó la reacción con tres canastas consecutivas y les dejan peligrosamente cerca (a una derrota) del Play-In (44-31).
