Anfang Dezember 2024 kollabierte Edoardo Bove (22) im Serie A-Spiel zwischen AC Florenz und Inter Mailand nach 16 Minuten. Dabei stand auch der 23-malige deutsche Nationalspieler Robin Gosens (30) auf dem Platz, er musste alles mit ansehen.
Der Florenz-Verteidiger in seinem eigenen Podcast „Wie geht’s?“: „Gefühlt habe ich da tatsächlich in Augen eines toten Menschen geschaut. Da war wenig Leben drin.“

Dieser Notfall habe ihm vor Augen geführt wie „zerbrechlich unsere Welt dann doch sein kann“, sagte der studierte Psychologe Gosens. Der 30-Jährige sagte im „Kicker“, dass ihm die mentale Gesundheit und die Psychologie des Menschen sehr am Herzen liege. „Ich habe immer noch das Gefühl, dass mentale Probleme auf eine Art ein Tabu-Thema sind, was ich nicht nachvollziehen kann.“ Mit dem Podcast wolle er eine größere Aufmerksamkeit für das Thema generieren.
Rückblick: Am 2. Dezember erging es Gosens‘ Teamkollege Bove beim Stand von 0:0 plötzlich extrem schlecht, er bindet sich noch die Schuhe zusammen und bricht dann auf dem Platz zusammen. Sofort wird der bewusstlose Italiener behandelt, auch mit Hilfe eines Defibrillators hatten Rettungskräfte versucht, sein Leben zu retten. Später wird klar, dass er einen Herzstillstand erlitt. Das Spiel wurde damals abgebrochen und im Februar ab der 17. Minute fortgesetzt, Florenz gewann 3:0.
Knapp zwei Wochen nach den dramatischen Augenblicken meldete sich Bove, erklärte: „Mir geht es gut, und das ist das Wichtigste!. Die Zuneigung, die mir entgegengebracht wurde, die Wärme der Fans, die Unterstützung von Mitspielern und Gegnern, die Verbundenheit der ganzen Fußballwelt war etwas, das mir unglaubliche Kraft und Mut gegeben hat.“

In einem Interview mit „Vanity Fair“ berichtete er vor wenigen Tagen: „Ich erinnere mich an sehr wenig, nur daran, dass ich auf dem Feld war und dass sich mein Kopf zu drehen begann, wie wenn man zu schnell aus dem Bett kommt, ich fühlte ein Gefühl der Erschöpfung… und das war’s.“
Und: „Ich erinnere mich nicht daran, dass ich gefallen bin. Ich bin im Krankenhaus aufgewacht und habe meine Beine angefasst, weil ich dachte, dass etwas mit meinem Knie passiert ist, ein Unfall. Für mich war es zunächst nicht so schwer wie für meine Angehörigen: Ich begriff nicht einmal den Ernst der Lage, ich dachte, ich sei einfach ohnmächtig geworden.“
