Die Freundin von Chelsea-Star Marc Cucurella (26), Claudia Rodriguez, hat sich zu den Herausforderungen geäußert, denen sie bei der Erziehung ihres gemeinsamen autistischen Kindes gegenüberstehen. Das Paar ist in der neuesten Staffel von der Amazon-Prime-Serie „Married to the Game“ zu sehen, in der es um das Leben der Ehefrauen und Freundinnen von Spitzenfußballern der Premier League geht.
Cucurella-Freundin über autistischen Sohn: „Sehr schwierig“
Die beiden lernten sich im Teenager-Alter kennen, sind seitdem unzertrennlich und haben drei gemeinsame Kinder: Mateo, Rio und Bella. Bei dem ältesten Sohn, dem vierjährigen Mateo, wurde Autismus diagnostiziert. In der Sendung erzählte Rodriguez von den Problemen, denen sich das Paar stellen muss.
[–>Rodriguez: „Wir haben etwas an Mateo bemerkt, als er noch klein war, etwa 13 Monate alt, aber es war ein langer Prozess, bis die Diagnose gestellt wurde. Als er noch kleiner war, war es einfacher, aber jetzt, wo er älter wird ist, ist es schwieriger.“

Die Cucurella-Freundin weiter: „Als wir zu Chelsea gegangen sind, haben wir ihn eingeschult, und er war sehr aufgeregt, und wir wussten keine Lösung. Man ist darauf vorbereitet, eine Mutter zu sein, aber nicht darauf, die Mutter eines autistischen Kindes zu sein, also fühlt man sich schlecht. Es war sehr, sehr schwierig, ihn so zu sehen, so aufgewühlt, und wir haben einfach versucht, die beste Lösung zu finden.“
Kein neuer Vertrag für Bayern-Idol: Wie meint denn Hoeneß diese Müller-Sätze?
Rodriguez: „Ich habe Marc gesagt, dass wir eine Sonderschule für ihn finden müssen, weil er nicht lernt und sein Leben nicht genießt. Ich wollte keine Zeit mehr verlieren, wir mussten etwas tun. So fand ich eine wunderbare Einrichtung in London, wo man ihn verstand und seine Bedürfnisse kannte.“
Cucurella selbst kann seine Emotionen nicht zurückhalten. Er bricht in Tränen aus.

Auf die Frage, wie Mateo jetzt zurechtkommt, sagt Rodriguez: „Es geht ihm gut, er sagt manchmal ein paar Worte und wiederholt sie, und wir arbeiten daran. Man weiß nie, was die Zukunft für ihn bereithält, aber wir arbeiten daran.“
Und weiter: „Ich weiß nicht, ob er sprechen wird oder nicht. Ich weiß nichts, aber wir versuchen, alles für ihn zu tun. Ich war vor einer Woche in Madrid, um einige Tests zu machen. Wir versuchen den ganzen Tag, Lösungen zu finden, und das ist das Beste, was wir tun können.“

Cucurella ist in Deutschland vor allem deshalb bekannt, weil er in der Verlängerung des EM-Viertelfinales zwischen Deutschland und Spanien einen Musiala-Schuss im Strafraum glasklar mit dem ausgestreckten Arm geblockt hatte. Dennoch gab es keinen Elfer – ein Fehler, wie die Uefa erst mehrere Monate (!) danach zugab.
