Although in recent weeks it has been rumored otherwise, Nintendo Switch 2 may not have 4K output.
As revealed by Insider Gaming, several developers who have already been working with the NSW2 Development Kit have claimed that none of them include 4K output.

For those who don’t know what these development kits are, they are something like – explained in a very simple way – sets of tools that console manufacturers provide to developers so that they can prepare their games for a particular console.
That being said, it seems that the kits that Nintendo would have provided for the Nintendo Switch 2 would lack the aforementioned 4K output, although all is not lost.
Will Nintendo Switch 2 be 4K compatible?
It is not uncommon for development kits, especially those delivered before the official launch or announcement of the console, not to reflect each and every feature of the console in question
Sometimes it is done to avoid leaks, and other times because it is not necessary to show all the functions of the console. After all, it is not uncommon for these kits to be given away to make it easier for developers to work in specific areas.
“I heard this from a developer at GDC and I also heard it separately in an email, but the dev kits, or some of the dev kits, don’t have a 4K output,” Tom Henderson told Insider Gaming.
It does not claim that any of these development kits have 4K output. In other words, some studios may have kits with 4K output, while others do not. Or it could simply be a feature that has not been added to the kits at this time.
As Insider Gaming explains, “the lack of 4K output in a development kit does not automatically imply that the system does not support it. Console development kits do not usually fully match the specifications of the final system”
“For example, some development kits might offer more memory for better debugging and omit features that don’t affect testing too much, such as, in this case, 4K output,” they say.
However, this situation is enough to raise some doubts. Fortunately, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2, they will probably answer these and many other questions we have about the console.
