Mario Gomez (39) arbeitet seit 2022 als Technischer Direktor im Red-Bull-Kosmos. Im Dezember hatte er seinen zuvor auslaufenden Vertrag um drei Jahre bis 2028 verlängert. Er kooperiert bei RB eng mit Trainer-Legende Jürgen Klopp (57/„Head of Global Soccer“).

SPORT BILD kann diese Gedankenspiele bestätigen. Bayern-Ehrenpräsident Uli Hoeneß (73) soll intern sehr für die Arbeit des ehemaligen Top-Stürmers (170 Tore in 328 Bundesliga-Spielen) schwärmen – ähnlich wie bei Österreich-Nationaltrainer Ralf Rangnick (66). Hoeneß gefällt das Auftreten von Gomez, u.a. bei dessen Part in der Bayern-Doku „Generation Wembley“.

Allerdings: Gomez hat gerade erst bei RB verlängert und soll sich nach SPORT BILD-Informationen dort in seiner Rolle sehr wohl fühlen. Er hat von den Gerüchten schon länger gehört, konzentriert sich aber voll auf RB und will aktuell nicht weg.
Außerdem hatte RB-Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender Oliver Mintzlaff (49, seit 2022 im Amt, zuvor von 2016 bis 2022 Leipzig-Geschäftsführer) den neuen Vertrag mit Gomez noch ausgehandelt und soll sich nicht vorstellen können, ihn vorzeitig daraus zu entlassen. Zumal Gomez und sein neuer Chef Klopp sich gerade erst als Duo eingearbeitet haben und zusammen harmonieren.
Anfang August hatte Ex-Nationalspieler (78 Länderspiele) Gomez im Interview bei SPORT BILD seine Motivation erklärt: „Ich liebe es, mit verschiedenen Kulturen zusammenzuarbeiten. Eine unserer wichtigsten Aufgaben ist es zu verstehen, wie du die Mitarbeiter in den unterschiedlichen Standorten packen musst und kannst. Auch, wenn es ist kein leichter Job ist, weil wir groß denken, und trotzdem immer Kleinigkeiten entscheidend sind.“
Klingt nicht so, als wollte er bald den Abflug zu Bayern machen …

American consortium GSG LOFC Limited, led by New York businessman David Gandler, has completed a takeover of English League One club Leyton Orient.The group has acquired 100 per cent of the east London club from its previous owner Eagle Investments 2017 Limited. As could be expected, Miami Heat star Tyler Herro didn't take very kindly to Darius Garland saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers' strategy in their first-round NBA playoff series was to "pick on" the sixth-year guard.
