With five months to go before the start of a new NCAA season, the pressure weighing on Arch Manning’s shoulders is overwhelming. The Texas Longhorns quarterback is set to be the starting QB for the historic University of Texas, but being the nephew of legends like Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as the grandson of Archie Manning, adds extra layers of expectation to his career.
Arch has spent two years on the Longhorns’ bench, serving as Quinn Ewers’ backup. He has been patient, and now his opportunity is approaching. He didn’t start any games until Ewers’ injury in 2024, when he stepped in against UTSA and threw five touchdowns.

ESPN’s contradictions regarding Arch Manning
A few days ago, ESPN’s Matt Rittenberg released a list of the top 15 NCAA quarterbacks for 2025, ranking Arch Manning at No. 12-outside the Top 10. This sparked frustration and even ridicule on social media.

Following the backlash, ESPN attempted to repair its stance by releasing an 18-minute video highlighting Arch Manning’s skills. Additionally, analyst Greg McElroy, a former Alabama and NFL quarterback, praised the Longhorns’ signal-caller.
“That family legacy is impressive, isn’t it? He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders because of what those before him accomplished,” McElroy said.

McElroy also stated that Manning’s two years as Quinn Ewers’ backup have only strengthened his talent.
“He now has a full preseason in his third year to be the starting quarterback and build chemistry and continuity with a very talented supporting cast.”

Training camp has begun, and Arch has taken first-team reps as he prepares for his true test in the 2025 season. His first challenge? Facing the defending champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

FIBA suspendovala Britskou basketbalovou federaci
Superliga vznikla loni po kolapsu britské ligy. Letos v dubnu federace udělila licenci na 15 let konzorciu amerického obchodníka Marshalla Glickmana na provozování nové soutěže. Do ní se však devět klubů, jež založily superligu, odmítlo zapojit. Jejich zástupci tvrdí, že tendr federace byl napadením dominantního postavení superligy. BBF argumentuje tím, že superlize udělila jen dočasnou licenci a její fungování mělo pouze překlenout dobu, než udělí dlouhodobou licenci.FIBA uvedla, že britskou federaci suspendovala po důkladném prozkoumání situace, které zahrnovalo rozhovory se zástupci všech stran. V době suspendace nesmí BBF udělovat licence či uznávat národní mužské soutěže či posílat mužský národní tým do seniorských soutěží FIBA. Koncem listopadu mají britští basketbalisté zahájit kvalifikaci o mistrovství světa.
