Es ist geschafft, die Füchse Berlin stehen nach einer spektakulären und schmerzhaften Handball-Schlacht im Viertelfinale der Champions League. Die Berliner schaffen im Rückspiel in der Max-Schmeling-Halle gegen Industria Kielce ein 37:37 (21:24). Das Hinspiel in Polen hatten sie 33:27 gewonnen.
Die Mannschaft von Trainer Jaron Siewert (31) trifft nun im nächsten K.o.-Spiel am 23./24. und 30. April/1. Mai auf das dänische Top-Team Aalborg Håndbold. Diesen tollen Erfolg bezahlen die Füchse aber teuer. Gleich zwei Spieler verletzen sich schwer.

Von der ersten Minute an hat das Spiel ein irres Tempo. Express-Handball vom Feinsten. Die 8819 Fans kommen sich vor wie beim Tennis, so schnell müssen die Zuschauer hin und her gucken. Schon zur Halbzeit haben beide Teams insgesamt 45 Tore (!) eingehämmert – 21:24.
Doch schon nach 19 Minuten der erste Schock für die Berliner: Die Füchse sind gut im Spiel (14:12/18.), Kielce hält mit extremer Härte dagegen. So kommt es, wie es kommen muss. Theo Monar (23) streckt in der Abwehr die Hüfte raus, rammt sie Fabian Wiede (31) direkt in die Seite. Der Linkshänder fällt um, kann nicht wieder aufstehen. Minutenlang liegt Wiede in stabiler Seitenlage, muss mit der Trage aus der Halle geschoben werden. Offenbar eine Verletzung an der Hüfte, er kann sich nicht bewegen. In der zweiten Halbzeit sitzt er unter Schmerzen auf der Bank zum Anfeuern.

Der Ton wird noch rauer: In der 24. Minute bekommt Mathias Gidsel (nach 30 Minuten schon 9 Tore) einen Schlag ins Gesicht. Die slowenischen Schiris geben nach Videobeweis Peno Maqueda aber nur eine Zwei-Minuten-Strafe.
Bitterer Erfolg: Füchse im Viertelfinale, aber zwei Verletzte
Nach 25 Minuten der zweite Schock für die Füchse: Wieder ist Kielces Theo Monar (23) der Übeltäter. Er macht in der Deckung einen Schritt auf Tim Freihöfer (22) zu, der ist aber schon im Anlauf zum Sprung, tritt dabei auf Monars Fuß und knickt um – wieder Zwei-Minuten-Strafe für den kantigen Franzosen Monar. Freihöfer schreit vor Schmerzen, hält sich den linken Knöchel, muss von Team-Kollege Mijajlo Marsenic (32) vom Parkett getragen werden.

Die Nerven liegen blank, die Emotionen kochen hoch, mehr Thriller und Kampf geht nicht. Mathias Gidsel (12 Tore), Lasse Andersson (6) und Spielmacher Nils Lichtlein (6) tragen die Füchse am Ende ins Viertelfinale.
