Ve stejném složení jako v minulých letech se koná již 29. ročník tohoto prestižního seriálu turnajů pro evropskou hokejovou smetánku. EHT v posledních třech letech vládli Švédové, již před posledním turnajem je ale jisté, že tentokrát triumf neobhájí. Naopak hokejisté Švýcarska, kteří v roce 2021 nahradili vyřazené Rusko, při své čtvrté účasti mají šanci se poprvé v historii umístit lépe než na poslední příčce.

Generálka na světový šampionát se koná v brněnské Winning Group Areně. Ve čtvrtek 1. května od 18:00 zde turnaj zahájí Češi proti Finům, o necelé dvě hodiny se ve švýcarském Klotenu utkají domácí se Švédy.

Historicky nejúspěšnější reprezentací v seriálu EHT zůstávají Finové s devíti výhrami, švédští hokejisté ale dokázali ovládnout poslední tři ročníky.
