Merecieron más los pupilos de José Mourinho en la segunda mitad. Güvenç salvó un mano a mano con el exsevillista En-Nesyri en el 70′. Pudo marcar, también, el Galatasaray, que perdió a Lemina por lesión en el 62‘. Lo evitó el poste en el 80’ al repeler el disparo de Baris Alper Yilmaz.
Al final, polémica, lluvia de objetos contra Osimhen cuando se marchó sustituido para dar entrada a Morata en el 86′, amarillas por doquier (Sallai, Dzeko, Kahveci, Osimhen, Elmali, Skriniar…) y una monumental tangana que se saldó con cuatro rojas a Demirbay, Baris Alper Yilmaz, Mert Hakan Yandas, Salvatore Foti y Sandro Zufic.
Hubo 15 minutos de añadido, pero entre pérdidas de tiempo y faltas se jugó poco por no decir nada. Pudo llegar el 2-2, es cierto. Lo evitó Davinson Sánchez al sacar sobre la línea un intento de Skriniar. Sonríe el Galatasaray, que avanza a semifinales y se medirá al Konyaspor. En cambio, Mourinho podría acabar la temporada en blanco.
