Shilo Sanders, son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is making headlines once again, this time not for his performance on the field but for financial troubles off it.
The Colorado football safety is reportedly facing legal pressure from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services over missed payments on his 2023 luxury vehicle.

Shilo Sanders’ luxury car trouble
According to court filings, the automaker is seeking permission to repossess the car afterr Sandes fell behind on his $6,877 monthly payments.
The move comes amid his ongoing Chapter 7 bankruptcy case, which he filed in 2023 in an attempt to erase more than $11 million in debt.
However, Mercedes-Benz is arguing that it should be exempt from the automatic stay that typically prevents creditors from collecting debts during bankruptcy proceedings.
At the heart of Sanders’ financial troubles is a long-standing legal battle dating back to 2015.
That year, he was sued by John Darjean, a security guard from his former school in Texas, who claimed Sanders caused him serious injuries during an altercation when Shilo was just 15.
Sanders, who maintains he acted in self-defense, did not appear in court when the case went to trial in 2022, leading to a default judgment of nearly $12 million against him.
Now, Mercedes-Benz is pushing for the return of its vehicle, citing the car’s depreciation as a key reason to lift the stay on debt collection.
In a statement, the company’s creditor attorney, Doug Koktavy, said, “The contract is in default, and [Mercedes-Benz Financial Services] is being prevented by the automatic stay from exercising its remedies to repossess and liquidate its collateral, the motor vehicle.”
Sanders originally purchased the $135,000 luxury car in 2023 on an installment plan, but just months later, he filed for bankruptcy protection.
Court records indicate that he still owes $97,239 on the vehicle. If the court grants Mercedes-Benz’s request, Sanders will be forced to surrender the car immediately.
The timing of these financial struggles is particularly unfortunate, as Sanders is preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft.
While his brother, Shedeur Sanders, is projected as a top-five pick, Shilo’s draft stock remains uncertain.
His performance in recent scouting events, including the East-West Shrine Bowl, has raised questions about whether he will be selected at all.
However, some analysts predict he could still land with a team, potentially as an undrafted free agent.
Regardless of what happens in the draft, Sanders’ financial troubles are far from over.
If his debts are not discharged by the court, Darjean may still pursue collection efforts, further complicating Sanders’ road to financial recovery.
Meanwhile, the luxury car he once drove as a status symbol is now at the center of a legal battle that threatens to take it away.
