Zumindest in der ersten Handball-Liga Spaniens gilt der „Palau Blaugrana“ (deutsch: blau-dunkelroter Palast) als uneinnehmbare Festung. Fast immer verlassen die Gäste geschlagen die Platte in der Halle des Weltklubs FC Barcelona.

Am Samstagabend kam es zu einer außergewöhnlichen Sensation in jener Halle. Der große FC Barcelona hat gegen Fraikin Granollers 30:31 (18:16) verloren. Fast schon historisch.

Handball: Erste Heimpleite für Barca seit sieben (!) Jahren

Kurios: Damals wie am Samstagabend war es das Team aus Granollers, einer Stadt, die nur 25 Kilometer von Barcelona entfernt ist, die dem FC Barcelona diese seltene Schmach zufügte.

Einer der besten Spieler Granollers war Pablo Nicolás Sebastián de Todos los Santos Urdangarin y Borbón (24), kurz Pablo Urdangarin. Der Linkshänder machte sechs Tore und ist der Enkel von Spaniens Ex-König Juan Carlos (87), der 2014 abdankte.

Pablo Urdangarin ist kein Unbekannter im deutschen Handball. In der Saison 2018/19 spielte er für die A-Junioren der TSV Burgdorf, dem Stammverein der TSV Hannover-Burgdorf aus der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga, in der Junioren-Bundesliga.

[–>Sein Vater Inaki Urdangarin (57) ist Handball-Fans ebenfalls ein Begriff. Urdangarin senior war einst Weltklasse-Handballer beim FC Barcelona und spanischer Nationalspieler. Wegen eines Geldwäsche-Skandals wurde er im Sommer 2018 zu einer Gefängnisstrafe (5 Jahre und zehn Monate) verurteilt.

Urdangarin senior und seine Ehefrau, Pablo Urdangarins Mutter Cristina von Spanien, trennten sich 2022. Urdangarin junior kam damals nach Hannover-Burgdorf, weil dort sein Freund Carlos Ortega Trainer der Bundesliga-Mannschaft war.

Ortega brachte den Königs-Enkel im Nachwuchs unter, der damals von Ortegas Assistent Iker Romero (jetzt SG BBM Bietigheim) trainiert wurde. Ortega ist seit Sommer 2021 Trainer des FC Barcelona, der nun ausgerechnet von einem Sohn seines alten Freundes besiegt wurde.
