Después de imponerse a Real Sociedad, Getafe, Real Madrid, Las Palmas, Leganés y Sevilla, este sábado intentarán por tercera vez ese pleno de 21 puntos de 21 posibles que no pudieron alcanzar el curso 2017-18, en el que ganaron seis jornadas seguidas entre la 28ª y la 33ª, o en la temporada 1959-60, donde su racha también se quedó también en seis triunfos entre la fecha 14ª y la 19ª del campeonato.
El Betis también buscará en su visita a la montaña olímpica un curioso póquer. Sólo dos veces en toda la historia los verdiblancos han sido capaces de ganarle al menos un partido de Liga en una misma temporada a Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid y Sevilla. Este curso ya lograron imponerse a los de Ancelotti, el pasado mes, y al equipo de Simeone, a finales de octubre. El pasado domingo ganaron el derbi sevillano. Hace pocas semanas, Pellegrini superó a Lorenzo Serra Ferrer como el entrenador con más victorias en Primera división con el Betis. A partir de ahí comenzó la carrera por convertirse en el técnico con más triunfos como verdiblanco en toda la historia, sumando todas las competiciones. Con el derbi, el Ingeniero alcanzó las 115 en 242 partidos. El único que le supera es el balear, con 116 triunfos en 263 encuentros. Tal vez le iguale hoy o la próxima semana, pero parece seguro que nada impedirá al chileno batir otro récord con verdiblanco.
