No ha tardado mucho en llegar el primer baile de parejas de la temporada. Pese a que parecía que podía haber un gran número de movimientos, al final se ha limitado a un simple intercambio de cromos. Aun así, estos han provocado una serie de cambios en el ranking que afectarán a las siguientes pruebas del calendario.
Martín Di Nenno y Javi Garrido, que eran la quinta dupla en las inscripciones, han decido poner fin a esta etapa juntos tras varios resultados decepcionantes. Por otro lado, Juan Tello y Tino Libaak son los que se han visto afectados. El revés jugará con ‘Renga’ y el drive con ‘Metralleta’. Sin embargo, parece un intercambio que ha favorecido a todas las partes.

Tello y Libaak estaban fuera del top-8. Por tanto, estaban obligados a verse las caras con un gran rival en los octavos de final. Su rendimiento fue tal, que fueron capaces de pasar de esta ronda en varias ocasiones. Ahora, con sus nuevos compañeros, partirán en los sorteos de los cuadros dentro de las cabezas de serie, evitándose al resto hasta los cuartos de final.
La dupla formada por Martín y Juan partirá en la sexta posición, a muy pocos puntos de la quinta. En cuanto a Tino y Javi, cierran esas ocho primeras parejas y echan a Edu Alonso y Álex Arroyo del top. Los valencianos no han empezado bien y, salvo que hagan un gran papel en Qatar, perderán ese privilegio.

Otros que no han sido beneficiados por este cambio son Leo Augsburger y Pablo Cardona. Los ‘Predestinados’ estaban a poco más de mil puntos de entrar entre las cabezas de serie, pero con esta serie de cambios estarán un poco más lejos y pasarán a ser la décima dupla en vez de la novena.

En cualquier caso, Qatar será determinante para los cuadros de los próximos torneos. La inscripción del primer Major de la temporada ya está cerrada, siendo la despedida de Di Nenno/Garrido y Tello/Libaak. Lo que pase en Doha determinará si hay cambios de cara al P1 de España (que todavía no se sabe si se jugará), el P2 de Asunción o incluso el P1 de Buenos Aires, ya que no se sabe qué pruebas disputarán los jugadores.
La locura de la Race
Lo hablado anteriormente atiende al ranking general de la FIP, pero la Race es una clasificación completamente diferente que solo tiene en cuenta la presente temporada. Esta no vale para determinar los cuadros de los torneos, pero sí para saber quiénes participarán en el Tour Finals de Barcelona en el mes de diciembre. En ella, se puede apreciar el gran peso que ha tenido el boicot en este primer tramo del año.
Juan Lebrón y Franco Stupaczuk lideran la Race gracias al título que consiguieron el Cancún. Les siguen Galán y Chingotto, que han sumado dos títulos seguidos. Los número uno ocupan esa quinta y sexta posición por su tropiezo en Chile. Justo detrás de ellos, Gonzalo Alfonso y Tolito Aguirre, que han aprovechado la tensión entre PPA y Premier Padel para sumar más de 1.300 puntos en 2025.
Mike Yanguas y Coki Nieto son los siguientes, demostrando que están cumpliendo con su papel de cuarta dupla con creces. Incluso aparecen los nombres de Diego García y Curro Cabeza, ya que ganaron el P2 de Gijón. Di Nenno y Garrido, que suman solo 450 puntos, tendrán que empezar a sumar victorias para entrar entre los 16 mejores.
