La resolución de los comisarios fue clara y así lo confirmaban en el comunicado oficial:
“Decisión: “3 posiciones en la parrilla de salida para la próxima carrera en la que participe el piloto.
Motivo: Los Comisarios escucharon al piloto del coche 55 (Carlos Sainz) y a los representantes del equipo, y revisaron los datos del sistema de posicionamiento/comandancia, el vídeo, la radio del equipo y las pruebas de vídeo del coche.
El coche 55 se encontraba en una vuelta de entrada tras haber completado una vuelta de empuje cuando el coche 44 iniciaba su vuelta de empuje, y este tuvo que salirse de la pista para esquivarlo en la curva 1.
El piloto del coche 55 declaró que el equipo no le advirtió de la aproximación del coche 44 en una vuelta de empuje. Declaró que le pilló completamente por sorpresa y que, debido a la velocidad de aproximación del coche 44 y al ángulo de su coche, no pudo verlo por los retrovisores.
Sin embargo, a pesar de lo anterior, el equipo tuvo suficiente aviso de que el coche 44 se encontraba en una vuelta de salida mientras que el coche 55 estaba en su vuelta de empuje.
