While Todd Golden is best known for his role as the head coach of the Florida Gators men’s basketball program, behind the scenes he is a husband and father, grounded by the unwavering presence of his wife Megan York and their two young children. Their journey together-from college athletes to a family navigating the pressures of public life-tells a deeper story about resilience, partnership, and shared passion for sports.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Megan York established herself early on as a standout athlete. She rose to prominence in high school volleyball at Ronald Reagan High School, earning multiple accolades including Texas Division 4 Player of the Year and recognition as an AVCA High School Senior All-American.
That impressive trajectory led her to Saint Mary’s College of California, where she continued to excel as an outside hitter on the volleyball team.
Megan’s impact on the program was undeniable. She was named West Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Year in 2007 and left her mark in the record books-finishing second in all-time points with 1,527.5 and third in digs with 1,348.
Her competitive drive and leadership helped elevate the team and laid the foundation for her future in athletics and beyond.
From teammates in spirit to partners in life
It was during her time at Saint Mary’s that Megan met Todd Golden, then a guard for the men’s basketball team. Though they played different sports, their mutual understanding of athletic discipline created a natural connection.
“We were both so dedicated to our sports, but there was some kind of unspoken understanding between us,” Megan once said, reflecting on the early days of their relationship.
That bond would eventually lead them down the aisle, and together they’ve built a life centered on shared values: teamwork, perseverance, and family.
Today, Todd and Megan are parents to two children: Jacob Michael Golden, born in May 2016, and Madison Leigh Golden, who arrived a couple of years later.
