Hilft weder City im Kampf um die Champions-League-Quali noch United im Kampf um – ja, was eigentlich? Das Team von Ruben Amorim ist 13., nach oben und unten geht nichts mehr. Da wäre ein Derby-Sieg eine schöne Gelegenheit gewesen, um Kredit bei den Fans zurückzugewinnen.

Entsprechend angefressen waren die TV-Experten, die beiden United-Legenden Gary Neville und Roy Keane. Neville haderte mit dem Einsatz beider Teams, sagte: „Es ist das Manchester-Derby. Es war ein bisschen wie ein Freundschaftsspiel. Es ist, als ob wir im Fußball an einem Punkt angelangt sind, an dem sich die Mannschaften zu Tode fürchten, den Ball abzugeben. Jeder ist so besessen von seinem System, dass in vielen Spielen überhaupt nichts mehr passiert. Das muss aufhören!“
Neville weiter: „Das Aufregende und Schöne an der Premier League ist der Druck, die Energie und die Spannung, und das war hier ein bisschen anders. Die ersten 45 Minuten waren eine einzige Katastrophe. Das ist von beiden Mannschaften nicht gut genug.“
