Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs signed wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to bolster Patrick Mahomes‘ weapons as the quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl was the goal.
Hops, in his 10 games, recorded 437 yards and four touchdowns on 41 receptions during the regular season, while he had just three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs‘ three playoff games.

Harsh criticism for three-time All-Pro receiver
That’s not a great output, and that’s why the Chiefs didn’t re-sign Hopkins. But the Baltimore Ravens did sign the veteran in free agency. However, according to Mike Sando of The Athletic, an NFL executive offered a brutal assessment of Hopkins in Baltimore.
“D-Hop, that doesn’t mean anything to me. It’s just a name right now,” the executive said. Wow! That’s a pretty brutal opinion about Hopkins.
So, it seems that the former Chiefs receiver is seen as nothing more than a “guy” on the Ravens roster. But as we saw last season, Hopkins had some really productive games, with games of 86, 56 and 90 yards, plus six games of 29 or more yards. However, it seems that this is not enough to change the mindset of this NFL executive.
Time will tell if Hopkins works in Baltimore, but his time in Kansas City was productive… sort of, but he didn’t have the best postseason many expected.
Now, with a new team for a full offseason, maybe the Ravens see something in Hopkins that the Chiefs and the executive don’t. Either way, it’s a brutal assessment of a three-time All-Pro receiver.
