El Barcelona recibe este miércoles, en Montjuïc, la visita del Borussia Dortmund. Son viejos conocidos, y no sólo porque los dos equipos se enfrentaron el pasado mes de diciembre en el sexto partido de la fase de la liguilla de la Champions League, sino porque sus técnicos son amigos y excompañeros. Tienen un pasado reciente común. En este caso, se confirma que el que fuera ayudante, Hansi Flick, superó a su maestro: Niko Kovac

Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Barcelona: resumen y goles Champions League (J6)

El excentrocampista croata, de 53 años, cogió las riendas del Bayern de Múnich en julio de 2018. Su primera temporada, la 18-19, fue muy exitosa: Ganó la Liga, la Supercopa y la Copa con un equipo en el que, entre otros, militaban Lewandowski, Gnabry, Hummels, Coman, Kimmich, Neuer, Davies, Pavard, Coutinho, Boateng, Thiago Alcántara… Al siguiente curso, el actual preparador del Borussia Dortmund, que antes había dirigido al Eintracht y a la selección de su país, pidió la incorporación en su cuerpo técnico de Hansi Flick, con el que no había coincidido antes en ningún banquillo o como jugadores, que se vinculó como su asistente. El entrenador culé había entonces concluido su etapa como Director General de Deportes del Hoffenheim.

Ambos diseñaron un Bayern que debía continuar con su camino de títulos. Pero en noviembre de 2019, tras una dolorosa derrota (5-1) contra el Eintracht, la directiva del bloque de Múnich cesó a Kovac, a pesar de su éxito la campaña anterior, de que era tercero en la tabla, únicamente se habían disputado 10 partidos de la Bundesliga y era sólo el segundo tropiezo (también cayó contra el Hoffenheim), aunque en verano había perdido la Supercopa, precisamente, contra el Borussia Dortmund. Dirigieron juntos 16 encuentros. 

Sextete

Tras la destitución del croata, la Directiva apostó y ascendió a Hansi Flick a primer entrenador. El técnico alemán elevó al conjunto germano y volvió a hacerlo campeón: en la 19-20 conquistó la Champions League, la liga nacional y la Copa; y en la 20 -21, se impuso en el Mundialito, la Supercopa de Europa y la Supercopa germana (logró el sextete) y, otra vez, en la Bundesliga.

Después de esa triunfal etapa, que concluyó en verano de 2021 tras 85 partidos, el preparador azulgrana puso rumbo a la selección alemana, que dirigió, en 25 encuentros, hasta septiembre de 2023. Tras esa experiencia, estuvo sin equipo, preparándose, hasta la llama de Joan Laporta el pasado verano. 

Kovac, por su parte, firmó en verano de 2020 por el Mónaco y después por el Wolfsburgo. En febrero de este año, el expivote, nacido en Alemania, se vinculó con el Borussia, que había cesado a Sahin, que era el técnico del equipo alemán en el cruce de este curso de la fase de la liguilla que ganó en Dortmund el Barça (2-3), y Tullberg. El croata suma 12 encuentros, con un balance de seis victorias, dos empates y cuatro derrotas. El bloque del Signal Iduna Park, que este fin de semana pasado se impuso al Friburgo, ocupa la octava posición de la Bundesliga

El cruce de este miércoles será el sexto en el que Flick se mide al Borussia Dortmund en el banquillo: cinco con el Bayern y uno con el Barcelona. Los ha ganado todos. Como jugador, lo hizo en 9 ocasiones, con un balance de dos victorias, tres empates y cuatro derrotas. El técnico, que jugaba de pivote, le marcó un gol: fue en la temporada 89-90.
