Thibaut Courtois ha sido el elegido para dar la rueda de prensa junto a Ancelotti previo al cruce de mañana de los cuartos de final de la Champions ante el Arsenal. El belga vuelve por tanto a la portería del equipo blanco después de perderse los tres últimos partidos, concretamente desde que llegó de la concentración con Bélgica, tras causar baja en el segundo partido, por un quiste en la rodilla que le ha dado algunos problemas. El portero regresa consciente de lo que se juega el Madrid y más tras el último empate que complica la Liga.

Estado de forma:

“Yo estoy bien, tenía un problema del día a día… he ido entrenando y estoy bien. El equipo igual, hay que seguir y cambiar el chip después de una derrota”

El balón parado del Arsenal:

“Lo hemos trabajado ayer, sabemos cómo tenemos que intentar defenderles. No tener muchos córners en contra… pero es un problema de activación. A veces depende de la calidad del rival aunque estés concentrado. Si el rival mete un centro perfecto a veces no puedes hacer nada. Estamos listos para defenderlo bien mañana y esperemos que lo que hayamos preparado salga bien”.

¿Cómo estás fisicamente?: 

“Estoy bien. He tenido dos lesiones a principios de la temporadas, luego he estado bien y esto era una cosa menor. Por no arriesgar ante partidos importantes, hemos preferido esperar”.

El fortín del Emirates: “No sabía que llevan dos años sin perder aquí. No creo que cambie mucho. Es como decir que hemos ganado 15 Champions, no cambia. Sabemos que son fuertes en casa, lo era el Liverpool cuando ganamos allí 2-5. Si hubiéramos jugado aquí 20 partidos y no hemos ganado sería relevante pero no es el caso. Hay que intentar ganar, cada partido es diferente. Es la primera vez que jugamos aquí, sabemos que son fuertes, han ganado al City aquí. Lo tendremos en cuenta”.

Más sobre el balón parado: “Al final también es cómo lo defiendes, aquí es en zona y con bloqueos… como portero intentas intuir si te va al primer palo o al segundo, si hay bloqueos, tienes que saber estas cosas. Para un portero es importante analizarlo e intentaremos mañana hacernos fuerte porque cuando el partido está bloqueado el balón parado te puede ayudar”.

Esperar al final para ganar el partido: “En cada partido intentamos solucionarlo en los primeros minutos, pero el partido dura 90 minutos y quizás a veces estamos mejor al final o entran jugadores frescos que pueden marcar la diferente. Siempre es difícil, pero no es algo que hacemos adrede”.

Más sobre el Arsenal: “Tenemos mucho respeto por el Arsenal, tengo muchos amigos que son aficionados del Arsenal y sé que lo están haciendo muy bien. Es un equipo joven, pero con jugadores experimentados. Fuertes a balón parado por lo que es muy difícil jugar contra ellos. Espero que les podamos hacer daño, va a ser un partidazo. Es cuestión de tiempo para que ganen un trofeo”.

Cambio de actitud en Champions: “No creo que haya un gran cambio. Quizás se nota más por ser la Champions, pero nos tomamos cada partido en serio, no salimos en la Liga a dar un paseo. En Champions la adrenalina está más alta, en lugar de ir al 100% vas al 110%, pero cada error también penaliza más. Pero no es un cambio tan grande”.

Kevin de Bruyne se marcha del City: 

“Es uno de los mejores jugadores de la historia de Bélgica y también en la Premier. Hemos compartido muchos momentos, pero creía que iba a ir a otro equipo así que no me ha sorprendido”.

Si se ve titular: “Estoy al 100%, hay que preguntar al entrenador si voy a jugar pero me siento preparado. He estado entrenando en el gimnasio y los últimos días sobre el césped”.

 “No, al final ya tenemos suficiente con analizar nuestros partidos internamente… y si a veces un periodista piensa otra cosa y la línea del jugador es otra. Nos importa la crítica de dentro, puede ser que la adrenalina esté más alta en Champions, pero este escudo nos pide el 100% en todos los partidos. Los jugadores no elegimos partidos”.
