Quizás, lo más entretenido estuvo en las entrevistas posteriores. En una de ellas, Guardiola nos dejó un cómico momento con el reportero de ‘Sky Sports’, Patrick Davidson.
“¿Cómo pudiste hacerles más daño?”, le preguntó Davidson al técnico del City, en referencia a las dificultades que tuvieron para crear peligro a la defensa rival. “Los jugadores lo saben”, respondió Guardiola. “¿Puedes compartirlo con nosotros? El juego ya terminó…”, volvió a intentarlo Davidson. “Deberías saberlo, después de nueve años juntos”, concluyó Pep.
“No sé lo suficiente de fútbol”, le dijo el reportero. Tras esto, Guardiola no pudo evitar contener la sonrisa y respondió en tono humorístico: “¿Deberías trabajar en el mundo empresarial, quizás? Y luego preguntar por el fútbol. Ellos (los jugadores) lo saben. Saben el proceso. Si el balón está en un lado, los jugadores tienen que estar en la posición correcta. Hoy no ha sido lo suficientemente bueno”.
El planteamiento del partido
Tras esta anécdota, Guardiola analizó el encuentro y el planteamiento de ambos conjuntos: “En los últimos partidos, hemos sido mucho mejores. La defensa de cuatro estuvo mejor, pero simplemente no funcionó. Cuando perdemos el balón, son un equipo fuerte; te castigan en la transición y lo sabemos. Son muy buenos en la transición, así que hay que estar alerta. Siempre que venimos aquí o al Etihad creo que Rubén va a intentar crear jugadas increíbles. Sé que lo hacen muy bien, pero quizá sean principalmente un equipo de transición o de contraataque”.
Asimismo, destacó la labor de la defensa rival: “Sabemos que contra el 5-4-1 siempre es difícil. Aquí defienden con mucha precisión, lo que les permite jugar desde fuera del área. Llevo muchos años jugando contra un 5-4-1, con defensa profunda. Así que no es nuevo y siempre lo hemos logrado gracias a la calidad y el talento de los jugadores. Pero no puedo esperar este extra porque pueden jugar mal”.
