The Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce turn their eyes away from the NFL for a moment as they look to take a key business decision to grow their 1587 Prime steakhouse.
The 29-year-old quarterback and the 35-year-old tight end were supposed to have opened doors to the restaurant in early 2025, but there is currently no indication of that happening yet.
However, things could finally be on the move as both advertise for the post of executive chef via LinkedIn, meaning they may now have an opening date on the horizon as the final aspects of the business come together.
According to their post, the desired person must be responsible for the overall food quality of all food items. The employee will also oversee all back of house employees, ensure company standards and be responsible for specials and menu changes.
The salary for the post ranges from $90,000-$110,000 per year, although whether this disparity is dependent on experience or performance-based business clauses remains unclear.
Mahomes and Kelce aim to keep prices low
The 1587 Prime will be situated at a 10,000 square-feet site across two floors and will also contain private dining rooms and a meat display, as well as a state-of-the-art kitchen.
For both the Chiefs stars, the aim is not simply to turn as much profit as possible but is also to make sure everyone can enjoy the food place at an affordable and modest pricing.
“Me and Travis been working on it for a while,” Mahomes said to Fox4KC in 2024. “We always see these restaurants and we have a love for bringing people together.
“I think the biggest thing for us is we’re gonna do whatever we can to keep bringing people together and what better place than Kansas City?
“Hopefully we can win some games at Arrowhead Stadium and then we get to go over and have a few drinks and food with it.
“We don’t wanna make it too upscale, too high priced that not everybody can go. We’re gonna make it a place where hopefully Kansas City can call it home and that everybody can be there and really enjoy it.”

Blue Jays takeaways: ‘Less is more’ for Chris Bassitt, the Aaron Judge plan and more
NEW YORK — Chris Bassitt has a deep bag and loves to dig through it for something new. The 36-year-old Blue Jays starting pitcher has thrown eight different pitches in his MLB career (not counting the many variations of each), he’s raised his arm angle, dropped it back down and moved all over the rubber.AdvertisementBassitt has plenty of ideas on how to perfect his craft — many experiments to try. But the righty’s 2025 success, with a 2.62 ERA through six starts, is the product of simplification.“He does have a lot of ideas,” manager John Schneider said. “I think having his buddy Max (Scherzer) here sparked some more ideas. But we’ve found with Chris that sometimes less is more, and I think that’s kind of where he is right now.”In Sunday’s 5-1 loss in the nightcap of a doubleheader, Bassitt […]
