Prince William is set to take the global stage once again as he heads to Brazil later this year for the Earthshot Prize 2025, but all eyes are now on whether Princess Kate Middleton will join him.
Kensington Palace recently confirmed the Prince of Wales, 42, will travel to Rio de Janeiro this November for the environmental awards ceremony he founded in 2020.
“Olá, Brasil! The Earthshot Prize is coming to Rio this November!” Prince William posted online.
The initiative, created to tackle the world’s most urgent environmental problems, awards five £1 million ($1.25m) prizes to innovators with breakthrough solutions across five key categories.
This year’s event is expected to be a vibrant celebration of global changemakers, set against Rio’s stunning natural beauty.
“Get ready for big announcements, inspiring stories, and 15 new incredible finalists from around the world all in the heart of Brazil,” an announcement read.
“Surrounded by Rio’s beautiful landscapes and irresistible energy, we’re spotlighting changemakers where innovation and nature unite to regenerate our planet.”
Fans call for Kate’s return to the green carpet
Following the announcement, royal fans flooded social media with one major request-bring Princess Kate.
“I’d love to see Princess Kate on the Green Carpet here in Brazil,” one fan commented.
“Bring Princess Catherine with you, please,” added another.
Although the Princess of Wales, 43, has previously accompanied William to Earthshot events in London and Boston, she remained in the UK for last year’s ceremony in Cape Town to stay with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Whether she will attend the Rio event remains uncertain, but her absence last year has only heightened hopes for a public appearance this time around.
Given her enduring popularity and past support for Earthshot, royal watchers are keeping fingers crossed for her return to the spotlight in Brazil.
