Ex-Barça-Star Jeremy Mathieu arbeitet heute in einem Sportartikelladen, berichtet die französische „L’Equipe“.
Seinen größten Triumph feierte der Franzose mit dem Gewinn der Champions League 2015. Beim 3:1 gegen Juventus Turin trafen damals Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez und Neymar. In der Abwehr waren Javier Mascherano (40) und Gerard Pique (38) gesetzt, doch Trainer Luis Enrique (54) brachte in der 91. Minute einen weiteren Verteidiger – nämlich Jeremy Mathieu.

Der war 2014 für 20 Mio. Euro von Valencia zu Barcelona gekommen, machte in seiner ersten Saison 41 Spiele. Neben der Champions League gewann Mathieu mit Barça zwei La Liga-Titel und zwei Copa del Rey-Trophäen. In der Startelf konnte er sich allerdings nie richtig festsetzen, wechselte dann zu Sporting Lissabon und beendete 2020 seine Karriere.

Mit 41 Jahren hat Mathieu also einen neuen Job angetreten. Laut „L’Equipe“ ist er Angestellter in der „Intersport“-Filiale in Marseille. Dem Bericht zufolge wird der Laden von Anrufen überflutet. Die einzige Frage: Arbeitet der Champions-League-Sieger tatsächlich dort?
Mathieu soll in dem Geschäft eine Abteilung leiten, während er gleichzeitig seine Trainerlizenz erwirbt.
