Dak Prescott already knows that he will have a new ‘enemy’ in Joe Milton within the competition for the quarterback position with the Dallas Cowboys. Although they haven’t worked together yet, the young prospect has already spoken out about his upcoming competition.

What Joe Milton said about his arrival at the Cowboys to compete with Dak Prescott
Milton didn’t hide that he’s been a fan of the so-called ‘America’s Team’ since he was a kid. In fact, he has stated that it’s a dream come true and a blessing to be part of the franchise.
“It was great, it’s a blessing come true,” Milton told DallasCowboys.com.“That was something that me and my team talked about and was able to get done with the Cowboys, so it’s just a blessing to be here.”
The QB has never been a full-time starter in his short NFL career, though he does have starting experience-something that should be alarming for Dak Prescott, a threat, so to speak. In 2024, he started a game against the Buffalo Bills in January and left a good impression, completing 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown.

“From my rookie season I grew a lot, football is football at the end of the day, just having fun, enjoying the best thing I can do and that’s going out there and just having fun with it and enjoying my teammates, getting to learn people,” Milton said. “Here now, I’m a Cowboy now, being able to learn my teammates and get to explore and experience different things with them.”
One player who could help Milton continue to grow is the current starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, who has nearly a decade of experience. In fact, Prescott’s first year as a quarterback in 2016 coincided with Milton’s sophomore year of high school.
And he couldn’t be more excited to learn from someone he grew up watching and admiring. “It’s great, he’s a great person,” Milton said about being able to play alongside Prescott. “This is my second time meeting him, so just being around him I feel the great energy that he brings and just willing and look forward to learn from him and really compete.”
